Confirmation of time spent in continuous employment abroad (Customs Exemption Certificate)

Nationals of the Republic of Serbia who hold a valid passport of the Republic of Serbia and who have spent at least two continuous years working abroad, without interruption, are eligible to apply for a customs exemption certificate. This certificate applies to the import of household items only, into the Republic of Serbia. It is valid for one year from the date of issue. 

Persons who have worked abroad from two to ten years are exempted from customs duties on household items up to a total value of 20,000 EUR. Persons who have worked abroad for more than ten years are exempted from customs duties on household items with no limit on their total value.

Application for a Customs Certificate may be lodged at the Consulate General of Serbia in Sydney, in person or by post. If applying by post, signature on the application form and copy of the Serbian passport must be certified by a Justice of the Peace. Application should include the following:

- Valid passport of the Republic of Serbia, original sighted or certified copy if applying by post,

- Evidence of employment abroad, stating employer details, employee details, start and end date of employment (eg. Employer letter, Accountant's letter, Employer's Income Statement, or similar).

- Administration fee of $187.00 AUD, is payable by cash at the Consulate, or Bank cheque or Money Order by post, to the "Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia". If applying by post, please include a pre-paid self addressed envelope.

If applying in person, an appointment is required, by booking on-line in the e-CONSULATE.
